The 'Above the Line' Ambassador Program between Desert Chapel Christian Schools and Boyd Buchanan School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a transformative initiative that unites select varsity athletes from both schools, forging relationships that transcend athletics.
This program is rooted in the values of skillful, intentional, and on-purpose living, as it offers students an unparalleled opportunity to expand their horizons, embrace new challenges, and deepen their faith.
By visiting each other's campuses in alternating years, starting with Boyd Buchanan's visit to Desert Chapel in 2024-25, and Desert Chapel's return trip in 2025-26, these young leaders will experience cultural and regional diversity while forming lasting bonds with peers from across the country.
Engaging in community projects together, they learn the power of teamwork and service, impacting the local communities they visit in ways that align with their shared Christian values.
Most importantly, these athletes will serve as ambassadors for Christ, encouraging each other to live with purpose, integrity, and faith.
Through mentorship, fellowship, and a shared commitment to God, they will inspire one another to rise above the challenges of life—remaining "Above the Line" in every aspect of their walk with the Lord.
This program not only develops future leaders but also empowers them to live out their faith boldly and be lights in their respective schools, communities, and beyond.
Desert Chapel Christian Schools was hosted by Brandon O'Neill, National Director of Food and Beverage with American Golf, to a super-exclusive, behind-the-scenes, tour of the GRANDADDY OF THEM ALL... the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
A group of students, faculty and guests gathered in the belly of the stadium - the home team locker room - to hear Mr. O'Neill speak on his life, faith, and motivation to be the best he could be. "You have the ability to make a choice every day. The choice is NOT to be average. The choice is to be great. That's on you... The good Lord put you here to not be average," explained O'Neill.
The group then travelled to the top of the stadium and sat in the press box overlooking the grand field, which was being prepped for UCLA's spring football intrasquad game. Guides from the Tournament of Roses filled the attendees in on the unique and storied history of the Rose Bowl and it's annual football game.
Then the group got to do what very few individuals on the planet have had the opportunity to experience - stepping on the hallowed ground itself!
After a lunch feast back in the locker room, the group departed back to the Desert with minds blown and dreams set to someday reach the pinnacle of thier own lives - wherever that takes them.

MESSAGE FROM OUR HEADMASTER
DCCS has implemented a ban on all cell phones, earbuds, and smart watches while on campus during school, ASC, and athletics. In October, upon the arrival of our Yondr pouches, every student in grades 6-12 will receive a Yondr pouch. Students will be required to place their cell phone, earbuds, and/or smart watch in their pouch daily. Cell phones must either be turned off or put into airplane mode.
These pouches will have our DC logo on them as they are DCCS property and will be labeled with students' names. Daily pouch checks will take place to ensure students have placed and locked their belongings inside. Pouches will be unlocked at the end of the school day upon departure. Pouches will stay with students, in their backpack. Should we find a pouch intentionally damaged, the student will be suspended and the parent(s) will be billed $60 for a replacement pouch.
First offense If a student is found to not be using their pouch or is seen using their cell phone, earbuds, or watch, they will
be immediately given a Red Card and suspended from school. Should the same student continue to be defiant in this regard, expulsion may result.
In the meantime until the Yondr pouches arrive, we are asking students to keep with the same procedure, cell phones off or in airplane mode, and put away safely in their backpacks along with earbuds and smart watches. Students can and will have access to open their pouches to use their phone if needed with permission in the school office. If your middle or high school student does not have a cell phone, please email Miss Hailey, so we can add them to a does not have cell phone list. Elementary students with cell phones, earbuds, or smart watches will need to turn them into their teacher daily. Teachers will return items to the student at the end of the day upon dismissal.
The DCCS Speaker Series serves as a 'soft opening' to our Business, Entrepreneur, and Digital Media Academies. These academies are designed to provide rigorous content and encourage the application of higher-order thinking skills.
On select Wednesdays at 8 a.m., our middle and high school students are inspired and challenged by talented professionals like you from all walks of life.
